The Turkish Get Up

At first glace you may think - Funny Name! Awkward movement! What is this exercise even working??

The Turkish Get Up turns what looks like a simple task (getting up) into a fun challenge. The TGU is a great movement for improving coordination, flexibility, and strengthening your core- shoulders - and legs. In a nut shell, you name it and it's probably involved in this exercise.

The move is deceptively difficult so don't bite off more than you can chew while mastering this exercise. This week my classes were introduced to the Turkish Get Up (thanks, Coach Travis) with little or NO weight. I bet if you asked a few of them, they would agree that simply working with your body weight can be a challenge!

So, how do they Get Up in Turkey?

Try this workout and post your time to my comments!
4 rounds:
10 Turkish Get Ups (5 on each side)
15 Burpees
20 Sit Ups
....3-2-1 GO.....
