Get Your House in Order!

We consistently talk about setting goals, achieving and accomplishing our dreams. But without faith and getting our spiritual and emotional "house" in order, your physical and fiscal goals cannot be fully received. Setting goals is only half the story. Where does our focus lay?
WHAT: Setting Goals in Order of Importance
We know that goals are important and most of us know that we need to set goals in 5 specific areas of our life.

Spiritual - Emotional - Mental - Physical - Fiscal

WHY: Without spiritual and emotional grounding all other goals are impossible.

We alone are not strong enough to stay grounded.

It might seem weird or uncomfortable to talk about faith and spirituality in a work setting. But how do you separate the two? Whether you get spirituality from meditation, yoga, church, or prayer - connecting with something BIGGER than yourself is how progress is made!

Without a faith nothing else "works".

BOOK of JOSHUA 24:15

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua took responsibility for the spiritual life of his family (aka: personal/spiritual growth) before he focused on the leadership of his country (aka: fiscal/physical goals). He stresses that when leaders put the community first both the family and the community suffer. However, if you focus on getting your House in Order - get you/your family's spiritual life on track then both the family and the community will flurish.

Mr. John Henry McDonald:

Our country tells us to set goals in this order...

Make a lot of money (Fiscal)

Don't be fat (Physical)

You should have a degree (Mental)

Read self-help books (Emotional)

Pray more (Spiritual)

John Henry says - WRONG!!! In order to set powerful goals, you must first pay attention to your spiritual and emotional goals and mindset. Your physical and fiscal goals will only be fully realized when you thrive in these two areas.
Build a relationship with YOUR God (Spiritual)

Focus on the relationships that mean the most to you (Emotional)

Fill your mind with positive/productive material (Mental)

Lose 5% body fat, 5 strict muscle ups in a row (Physical)

Anonymously give away $100,000 (Fiscal)

HOW: Getting your House in Order is a personal journey but like anything else it begins with focus - remember that what you give attention to grows! Assess your daily actions that we mentioned last week and find a way to grow and nurture your spiritual/emotional health FIRST.

Here is what I am doing - what are you doing?

  1. Pray daily 2 min or 20 min - just get it done!

  2. Attend weekly Bible Study - keeps me on track

  3. Surround myself with likeminded support system/friends!
